(NASHVILLE, Tenn.) Dec. 4, 2008—Inpop Records pop/rock band Superchick was honored by The Recording Academy® last night, as nominations for the 51st Annual GRAMMY ® Awards were announced on CBS’ “The GRAMMY Nominations Concert Live!! — Countdown To Music’s Biggest Night.” The group was recognized in the category of Best Rock Or Rap Gospel Album for its current release, Rock What You Got.

Superchick’s first GRAMMY nomination, the band was thrilled by the industry’s support of its latest and greatest release. “The album being nominated for a GRAMMY award came as a huge surprise, and we are truly honored to have been recognized by NARAS members,” says Max Hsu of Superchick, who also produced Rock What You Got. “For a band that started out in my basement ten years ago, it’s a great reminder that cool things can happen to people who chase a dream and forget to give up.”

Inpop Records President Dale Bray adds, “This is the very first GRAMMY nomination for both Superchick and Inpop Records. We are pleased that voters have rewarded us for producing an album with such artistic and creative merit. Superchick is one of the hardest working bands in this industry, and Max’s production of this album is second to none. Today is a proud day for all involved.”

The 51st Annual GRAMMY Awards will be held on “GRAMMY Sunday,” Feb. 8, 2009, at Staples Center in Los Angeles and once again will be broadcast live in high-definition TV and 5.1 surround sound on CBS from 8–11:30 p.m. (ET/PT). A complete list of nominees is available at www.grammy.com.

Superchick released Rock What You Got, its first album in three years, on June 24, 2008. The project, produced by the band’s own Max Hsu (tobyMac, newsboys), finds the band honing a “rock-o-tronic” sound, an electro-punk mash-up of slashing guitars, pulsing keyboards and grit-pop vocals. While Superchick’s last album, Beauty From Pain, sought to empathize with listeners’ pain, band members have since walked their own dark, lonely roads with relationship splits and cancer touching four of their families. Rather than expound upon these personal hardships, Superchick turned Rock What You Got into a battle cry to charge onward. The disc resulted in Superchick’s highest ever first week sales numbers, and its single “Hold” peaked at No. 3 on Radio & Records CHR chart.

Chicago-based Superchick comprises sisters Tricia Brock (vocals) and Melissa Brock (vocals, guitar), Matt Dally (bass, vocals), Dave Ghazarian (lead guitar, vocals), Brandon Estelle (drums, vocals), and Max Hsu (keyboards/DJ). With five projects to date, Superchick has sold upwards of 700,000 albums, and the group’s songs have been heard in more than 70 film, television and video games. Rock What You Got provides no exception, having already received significant licensing placements. Most recently, “Cross The Line,” which will be serviced to CHR and Rock radio in January, was featured on an episode of MTV’s “The Hills,” while “So Beautiful” is currently being used in ABC television promotions for the new reality show, “True Beauty.” For more information on Superchick, visit www.superchickonline.com.

Founded in 1999, Inpop Records is home to a variety of artists including newsboys, Superchick, Shane & Shane and Mat Kearney, among others. For more information, visit www.inpop.com.
